Missoula Helitack is a 25- person crew of highly trained firefighters hosted by the Lolo National Forest in Missoula Montana. The crew staffs two platforms, an Airbus H145 and a Bell 407. Our primary mission profiles are initial attack and large fire support, as well as aerial ignition and prescribed fire. PLATFORMS
Missoula Helitack was one of two programs chosen in 2024 to host a next generation type 2 helicopter, the Airbus H145. The 145 is a national resource, and responds to fires across the country throughout the fire season.
In addition to the national type 2, we also staff a type 3 helicopter that is primarily located in Missoula and serves as the initial attack platform for the Lolo National Forest.
